The era of lockdown is back. After Mumbai, it's now the turn of Delhi to be locked down. On Monday, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal issued an order saying that the capital city will be locked down from 10pm Monday to 6am April 26.

The lockdown is near-total. At the same time, there are some exceptions. Weddings and funerals shouldn't allow the gathering of more than 50 and 20 individuals, respectively. Private companies/offices have to be shut. Work from home has to be implemented mandatorily.

It's like a curfew when it comes to the closing down of malls, cinemas, restaurants, salons, gyms, etc. The decision, said the CM, has been taken to avert a bigger crisis.

The CM said that the state government will make arrangements for more beds in Delhi using the lockdown phase. He also thanked the Centre for reaching out to the state government. There is a pressing need to ramp up the availability of oxygen and medicines.

Meanwhile, crowding has been reported from several areas in Delhi. ANI reported that a large number of people were spotted outside a liquor shop in Khan Market.
