A coronavirus positive woman has given birth to a baby at the AIIMS, Delhi, and as said by health officials, the baby is healthy and doing well as of now.

Dr Neerja Bhatla, professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at AIIMS led the team which handled the delivery through C-section, said that the baby boy born yesterday is doing fine. Currently the baby is with his mother as he will require breastfeeding.

The baby's health will be monitored and this is the first baby to be born to a coronavirus infected mother in Delhi.The mother was nine-months pregnant and tested positive following her husband, a resident AIIMS doctor had been found infected with the virus. The doctor's brother also had tested positive.
