Demand for ban on TikTok intensifies after rape video emerges

A TikTok user named Mujiber Rehman recently put out a video in which he and another male are seen adjusting their pants while a young girl is seen crying. The visuals suggest that the female was raped by the two men. Yes, it's just a performance and not a real rape incident. But the normalization and glorification of rape as an idea is palpable in the video.

This video is creating a huge stir on social media, with thousands feeling that it brazenly glorifies rape culture.

Rekha Sharma, the Chairperson of the National Commission for Women, has taken note of this outrageous vid. She is in favour of a complete ban on TikTok in India.

On Monday, Sharma made it a point to ask the police department to file a case against Faizal Siddiqui, the star TikToker. In a grotesque video, Siddiqui promoted an acid attack on a woman as an act of revenge for rejecting his love proposal.
