Speculation has been swirling for months around the fate of Devara 2, but the makers have now put all doubts to rest. Following the blockbuster success of Devara: Part 1, rumours gained traction that the sequel had been shelved after NTR chose to prioritise another project instead of jumping straight into Part 2.
After Devara: Part 1 stormed the box office in 2024, NTR shifted focus to Dragon, directed by Prashanth Neel. This gap between the two instalments sparked theories that Devara 2 might never take off. Director Koratala Siva, however, repeatedly dismissed such claims, assuring fans that the sequel was very much alive.
The strongest confirmation has now come directly from producer Sudhakar Mikkilineni. Speaking at a recent public event, he officially announced that principal photography for Devara 2 will commence in May 2026, with the makers targeting a theatrical release in 2027. Expressing unwavering confidence, the producer described the sequel as a “sure-shot blockbuster.”

Devara 2 carries forward the legacy of Devara: Part 1, which featured NTR in a ferocious coastal lord avatar, alongside Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in key roles. The film went on to become the highest-grossing solo-hero film of NTR’s career and also made a strong global impact, collecting close to $6 million at the North American box office.
With the sequel now officially locked in, expectations are soaring. As Devara 2 gears up to expand its epic world on an even grander scale, fans can finally look forward to the return of one of Telugu cinema’s most successful franchises.
