Superstar Rajnikanth who had last given a superhit with Petta directed by Karthik Subbaraj, had then been shooting for his 167th movie Darbar directed by AR Murugadoss. Produced by Lyca Productions, Darbar shooting was recently completed and post production works are in progress.

Darbar also stars Lady Superstar Nayanthara, Nivetha Thomas, Suniel Shetty, Prateik Babbar and has music by Anirudh, and was announced as a Pongal 2020 release. Now the latest rumour making rounds is that Darbar might face a box office competition from none other than actor Dhanush.

Speculations are making rounds that Dhanush's next movie Pataas, which has a schedule remaining for the shooting to end, might be joining Darbar as a Pongal festival release, and an official release date announcement is expected soon. Directed by Durai Senthilkumar Pataas also stars Sneha and Mehreen.
