Veteran dance choreographer K. Sivashankar has worked in more than 800 films in ten Indian languages. He has also acted as a comedian in several films including 'Varalaru', 'Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya','Aranmanai', 'Indru Nettru Naalai', 'Paradesi', 'Sarkar' and Dhillukku Dhuddhu 2'.

The 72 year old who is living in Hyderabad contracted COVID 19 and is hospitalized in a serious condition at the AIG hospital in the Telengana capital. His wife Suganya and elder son Vijay Sivashankar also tested positive and are admitted in the same hospital.

Ajay Sivashankar the younger son of Sivashankar had sought financial help from the film fraternity stating that his father's lungs have been affected to the extent of 75 percent and medical bills are mounting. Telugu hero Vishnu Manchu and Bollywood hero Sonu Sood have contributed to the veteran and his family's medical expenses.

Tamil superstar Dhanush who heard he news immediately sent a cheque for rupees five lakhs in aid of his senior industry colleauge. It may be recalled that the song 'Manmadha Raasa" from the movie 'Thiruda Thirudi' was choreographed by Sivashankar master which showcased to the world his dancing skills. and catupulted Dhanush into the big league.
