Excellent performance of 'VIP 2' in Box office

Actor Dhanush's 'VIP 2' the sequel to his 2014 blockbuster 'Velai Illa Pattadhari' released on Friday (August 1) and it has taken a tremendous opening in Chennai as expected.
The film directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth was released in 16 theaters across the Chennai city. It has had 261 shows in these three days including the special morning shows in almost all the theaters on all the three days. With this the film has collected more than Rs.1.53 crores in Chennai city itself. (Rs.1,53,95,5452 is the gross amount).
This is termed as an 'Excellent Opening' by the box office trade pundits. The film is expected to enjoy similar reception today and tomorrow as today is Krishna Jayanthi festival and tomorrow is the Independence Day holiday.
