There have been several rumours recently surrounding Dhanush's Vada Chennai 2, the second part of the gangster film Vada Chennai, a major commercial success which chronicled 30 years in the life of an accidental gangster.

The latest rumour was that the sequel of the trilogy, which was announced soon after the release of the movie in 2018, had been shelved owing to schedule constraints of the artists who played pivotal roles in the film. The rumour further added that the people of north Chennai weren't happy about the way their life had been portrayed on-screen. However, director Vetrimaran announced at the press meet of Vada Chennai that 30 percent of the second part had been completed already.

Dhanush has now officially clarified that the project is very much on and has asked his fans to not believe in any news regarding the film unless it came from his official Twitter handle. "Don't know what caused this confusion among my fans. Vada Chennai part 2 is very much on, Unless you see any official confirmation from my Twitter handle please do not believe in rumours regarding any project of mine. Thank you. Love you," his post read.

Vada Chennai, set in North Madras, starred Dhanush, Aishwarya Rajesh, Ameer, Andrea Jeremiah, Kishore and Samuthirakani in significant roles.
