Dhanush, the national award-winning actor, has had a mixed bag so far in this year. While 2013 would surely go down in his career as the year which launched him as a hero in Bollywood through the successful Raanjhanaa, his two other Tamil films in Maryan and Naiyaandi failed to make any notable impression at the box-office. Dhanush also danced for a song in his home banner Ethir Neechal early this year.

He now has a couple of films on hand including Velaiyilla Pattathari and Anegan. In K.V. Anand’sAnegan (which means ‘many persons’ in a single avatar), Dhanush is said to be essaying as many as four roles. Anand, who usually keeps his script and the characters of the lead artistes under wraps, opened up recently when asked about Dhanush’s character(s) in the film.

“Yes, he appears in four different looks in the film. One of them is the bearded-look in which he is spotted nowadays. The other three ‘looks’ would be tried out on the actor soon enough. It’s certainly a serious role for Dhanush but won’t be the moody-sombre kind of role he essayed in films such as Mayakkam Enna. His role(s) in Anegan would be very different and for this film, he has worked with amazing intensity.

“This could be my first film which has romance as the central theme. I’m glad I chose Amyra Dastur for the role; she is an extremely gifted actress and would be noted to a great extent once the film is out in theatres. She is dedicated and has a good future,” concluded Anand and added as a parting shot that the film would also have many action sequences including one which was picturized for 20 long days in Hyderabad.
