Actress Dhanya Balakrishna finds herself embroiled in a contentious situation surrounding her past remarks about Tamil Nadu, just days before the release of her upcoming movie "Lal Salaam," featuring Superstar Rajinikanth in an extended cameo.

In response to the social media uproar, backlash, and trolling she faced for her previous comments, Dhanya issued a public apology to the people of Tamil Nadu. In a recent press release, she clarified that the comments attributed to her on social media were not accurate. Dhanya explained that her statements from 12 years ago were misinterpreted, with only a portion taken as a screenshot. She asserted that she had clarified the context at that time and is reiterating it now. Expressing gratitude for starting her career in Tamil cinema, she acknowledged that her unintentional comments may have hurt the sentiments of the Tamil people, and she sincerely apologized. Dhanya extended her apologies to Rajinikanth, Aishwarya, and all the fans. Whether this unconditional apology will quell the tensions and conclude the controversy remains to be seen.

The controversy stems from a controversial post Dhanya made in 2012 after the Royal Challengers Bangalore's loss in an IPL tournament. The post triggered significant outrage, leading Dhanya to announce her withdrawal from Tamil movies at the time, vowing not to return to Tamil cinema.

However, these past comments resurfaced from the depths of the internet, reigniting emotions and sparking debates. VJ Parvathy Saran questioned how someone could be so rude and still shamelessly return to Tamil cinema. Notably, popular Tamil YouTube reviewer Blue Sattai Maran has spearheaded an online debate against Dhanya, raising questions about the casting decision by Rajinikanth and director Aishwarya Rajinikanth, given the hurtful remarks made against Tamil Nadu.

Dhanya is reported to play the female lead in "Lal Salaam," alongside Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth in the lead roles. The unfolding events will determine the impact of Dhanya's apology on mitigating the controversy surrounding her past comments.
