In a recent interview, Santhosh Narayanan shared that "Kanima" served as a creative inspiration for a hit song from two decades ago — "En Aasaai Maithiliye" from Simbu's 2004 romantic thriller 'Manmadhan'. Originally performed by Simbu and Suchitra, the song was a chartbuster during its time. Now, fans are amazed to learn that the roots of that classic may trace back to this newly released track, flipping the usual direction of influence.
With lyrics by Vivek, "Kanima" has struck a chord with audiences, and the nostalgic twist has only added to its popularity. The emotional depth and retro vibes have left fans eagerly anticipating its big-screen moments, where they’re expected to cheer and dance with heartfelt excitement.
'Retro' boasts a total of six songs, all of which were unveiled during a grand music launch and have since been widely praised. The film stars Suriya alongside Pooja Hegde, with an ensemble cast featuring Joju George, Karunakaran, Jayaram, and more.
Behind the scenes, the film shines with Santhosh Narayanan’s music, Jackson’s art direction, Praveen Raja’s costume design, Jayika’s stunt choreography, Shafiq Mohammed Ali’s editing, and Shreya Krishna’s cinematography. 'Retro' is co-produced by 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench, promising a rich cinematic experience for fans.
