Producer Dil Raju recently found himself in the spotlight after comments he made during the trailer launch event for the movie Sankranthiki Vastutanam went viral. It triggered a controversy on social media. Addressing the backlash, Dil Raju clarified his intentions and apologized to Telangana's people.
Speaking on the matter, Dil Raju said, “As a resident of Nizamabad district, I held my film’s event there. During this event, I spoke about the cultural practice of Telangana with Daawath celebration, but it seems my words were misunderstood. There is now a campaign on social media accusing me of insulting and ridiculing the people of Telangana. I want to make it clear that I deeply admire Telangana’s rich culture and traditions."
"The people of Telangana supported Balagam, a film rooted in our cultural backdrop. It received praise from all political parties. Similarly, Fidaa, which was shot in Banswada, brought Telangana’s culture to the global stage. As someone who is part of this state, how can I ridicule it?" he explained.
His film Game Changer was released yesterday and another film Sankranthi Ki Vastunnam will release on the 14th of this month.
