Director Vijay is famous for helming super hit films with top heroes such as Thala Ajith's 'Kreedam', Chiyaan Vikram's 'Deiva Thirumagal', Thalapathy Vijay's 'Thalaivaa' and Arya's 'Madrasapattinam'. His most recent pan Indian film 'Thalaivi' the biopic of late Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalitha is expected to release soon and has Kangana Ranaut as Jaya and Arvind Swamy as MGR.

On the personal front Vijay was married to actress Amala Paul from 2014 to 2017 and divorced by mutual consent. He then married Aishwarya a doctor in 2019 and the couple have a daughter born in 2020.
