G Karthik Reddy, the director of Manchu Vishnu-starrer 'Voter', has complained to the Telugu Film Directors Association. As per him, Vishnu has interfered with the process of filmmaking and has caused the budget of the movie to go up significantly through his actions.

It was in 2017 that I approached a producer with a story titled 'Powerful'. They loved the story and suggested the names of three actors for the hero's role. I told them the film should be made with Manchu Vishnu as the hero. I have known the actor since the days of 'Sarada', a project which had to be shelved due to financial issues, Karthik says.

After the shooting of 'Voter' began, I expected everything to proceed smoothly. However, Vishnu got two scenes added to the film against my wishes. I protested saying that the scenes are unrelated to the story. To make the matters worse, the actor enlisted a fight master and shot the film's action scenes on his own. When he was in the US for 'Achari America Yatra', he shot some scenes of 'Voter' without my permission. I swallowed everything only because I didn't want my ego to bury the project for the sake of the producers, Karthik writes in a letter.

Due to all this, the budget of 'Voter' has gone up. The initial budget was Rs 6 Cr. Vishnu told me that he will put his name under the credits for Story and Screenplay. I fulminated. I went to Mohan Babu garu and complained about this. He told me he will take care of the issue, the director writes further.

Voter was supposed to hit the screens during election time. But no distributor has come forward to buy it. Vishnu recently came up with an idea to market the movie. He asked me to sign on a bond paper saying that 'Voter' is an adaption of 'Assembly Rowdy'. My film has no similarities with 'Voter'. How can I agree to the demand? Karthik questions.

The director hopes that justice will be rendered by the Directors' Association.
