Director Shankar's mother S. Muthulakshmi passes away

Director Shankar's mother S. Muthulakshmi passed away a little earlier today due to age-related issues.  She was 88 years old and her last rites will be held on Wednesday according to official sources.

Condolence messages have been pouring in from Kollywood celebrities and fans on social media.  Shankar has stated in many interviews that he is very close to his mother and that she was proud of his achievements in Indian cinema known for his grandeur style of filmmaking.

Shankar's upcoming films are 'Indian 2' starring Kamal Haasan, 'RC15' starring Ram Charan Teja and the Hindi remake of 'Anniyan' with Ranveer Singh reprising the triple characters that Vikram played in the original.
