Divya Sathyaraj, daughter of renowned Indian actor Sathyaraj, has addressed growing speculation about whether she will become the next Mayor of Chennai. "Many people ask if I’m going to be the next Chennai Mayor. I will work selflessly for the people without any expectations," she said.

Divya, who has been involved in various professional fields, is currently serving as the Deputy State Secretary of the DMK's IT Wing. Recently, her post on social media platform X gained widespread attention. In it, she shared her early struggles in politics: "When I told my parents that I wanted to be a politician, they were very worried and did not support the idea initially. It took a lot of convincing and even tears to make them understand."

She also highlighted a broader issue many face in Indian society. "I’ve seen many people separate from their loved ones due to family and societal pressure. Please fight for your love—be it for a person or a passion. Never give up. If we wish to be happy, we must pursue what we love."

Divya expressed her happiness in being a politician and praised her party, stating, "DMK is a party that respects women. I genuinely feel thankful to be in public service."
