Do Lafzon Ki Kahani Review

Expectations

Bollywood has been known for making films inspired from Hollywood followed by the regional cinema. The latest fad for inspiring are the Korean films, which consist of action, thriller, drama, romance, horror and even comedy genres. Emraan Hashmi's 'Aawarapan' was a decent romantic film which was inspired from a Korean film but failed at the box office. The latest film to join the genre of romantic films which are inspired from Korean cinema is 'Do Lafzon Ki Kahani' starring Randeep Hooda and Kajal Aggarwal. The trailer has been well received and the songs have already made their mark. Thus, there is a decent amount of expectation related to this movie, which has been mildly diluted due to frequent delay in terms of its theatrical release.

Story

'Do Lafzon Ki Kahani' is a story of an exmix martial arts boxer, Suraj (Randeep Hooda). Suraj keeps doing odd jobs in order to survive in Kaula Lumpur, Malaysia. One of his odd job is of a night guard in a parking lot. Out there, he meets a blind girl Jenny (Kajal Aggarwal), who keeps coming to his booth to hear an Indian television serial. These meets develops a bonding between them leading to a romantic relationship between them. Later, Suraj comes to know that Jenny's eyesight can be restored for which he needs to arrange a handsome amount of money for her operation. Suraj decides to return back to boxing but this time, things are not as easy as it seems.

The 'Glitz' Factor

There are some interesting moments in the initial part of the film featuring the romantic part between Randeep and Kajal. Also, the fight scenes by Randeep in the second half are interesting. The camera work is good and goes well with the flow of the film. 'Do Lafzon Ki Kahani' has some beautiful songs like 'Jeena Marna' and 'Kuch To Hai'. 'Sehra' is also good as it sets the base for the film. 'Ankhiyaan' could have been avoided. RandeepHooda is great in his part, especially the ones in the finale. His expressions adds life to the dead scenes. Kajal Aggarwal looks cute and does her part with grace.Dhiraj Shetty lend good support.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

After the initial part of romance, the movie goes on a super stretching mode as all it does is drag, drag and drag till the finale. The basic plot line is predictable and has been seen many times in our Hindi films. Also, the second half tries to test your patience level as you know something bad is going to happen but to reach there you have to go through endless dragging scenes. The whole intensity is lost due to bland screenplay and slow narrative. Director Deepak Tijori is known for making films which have been inspired from Hollywood films and now is venturing into Korean cinema. He follows the same style and pattern in 'Do Lafzon Ki Kahani', due to which he fails to enhance the film. The treatment fails to connect you with the film. The dragging screenplay dilutes the film badly.Mamik Singh, Anil Grorge and Yuri Suri are wasted.

Final 'Glitz'

'Do Lafzon Ki Kahani' is actually a tale of two words which has been stretched as a never-ending tale. Though, the initial romance, Randeep's performance, Kajal's presence and few good songs work in the favour of the film.
