'Dream' Projects for Vijay with Top Directors

Illayathalapathy Vijay is riding high with back to back hits, Jilla' and Kaththi' and his Puli' seems to have the look of a blockbuster in the making from the initial teaser released on his birthday. In this celebratory mood we take a look at what kind of treat await Vijay's fans if he gets to work with a few top directors of Tamil cinema with whom he has not collaborated with so far in his distinguished career.

Bala - Vijay

Director Bala has shaped the careers of two of the most accomplished actors of modern Tamil cinema Vikram and Suriya. If a Vijay and Bala project happens then we can expect the director to unearth a new dimension to Vijay's acting which will surely rock.

Manirathnam - Vijay

This combination almost happened last year when Ponniyan Selvan' was planned with Vijay and Mahesh Babu in the lead roles. We hope that the project gets a green signal again or even a new script would be fine for Mani will make Vijay look more suave and more importantly it's a long time since Vijay did a romantic film.

Gautham Vasudev Menon - Vijay

Gautham Vasudev Menon and Vijay did come together for a James Bondesque actioner Yohan: Adhiyayam Ondru' which was shelved due to unknown reasons. In the recent Yennai Arindhaal' GVM did a perfect balancing act of feeding the superstar image and telling a story of substance and the same can ensue for Vijay which will be a treat to watch.

Sundar.C - Vijay

The man with the Midas touch Sunder C will surely give a complete entertainer with Vijay which will be loaded with the perfect mix of humor, heroism, sentiment, action and a good knot. This will be a combination to cheer for.

Vetrimaran - Vijay

In both Polladhavan' and Aadukalam' director Vetrimaaran pits his heroes against a powerful enemy and the ensuing game of cat and mouse played between the two resulted in two of the most thrilling films of the past decade. Vijay has not ventured into rural and semi urban subjects and a combination with Vetrimaaran will be the perfect departure for Vijay into a new style of films.

Venkatprabhu - Vijay

Vijay supposedly expressed to VP that he would have done Arjun's role in Mankatha' if he had been approached. Now that would simply have been an out of the world experience. If at all a Thala- Thalapathy film comes to fruition Venkat Prabhu will be the natural choice to direct it and needless to say it will be full of action, wackiness, anti-heroes and a joy ride. Can't wait for this one.

Selvaraghavan - Vijay

Selvaraghavan is a director who adds heroism for the character and not the actor who acts in the lead character. He has directed Dhanush, Karthi and Arya and they have had punchlines and heroic scenes in the films, but they were different from other commercial flicks of these heroes. A Vijay- Selva combo will have an emotionally strong content and even though the hero will be larger than life he will still be rooted in realism.

Suseenthiran - Vijay

A surprisingly adept director who seems to have a hold on the pulse of the audience as evidenced in films like Naan Mahan Alla', Pandiya Naadu' and his latest biopic Paayum Puli' is already being raved about by industry insiders. One can expect a naturalistic film from a Susee-Vijay combo which will take Vijay back to the Nanban' territory.

Hari - Vijay

The billion dollar question is why this combo has not happened yet. The Hari formula of a speedy screenplay loaded with humor and action with a strong family sentiment in a semi rural backdrop is tailor made for Vijay to give his fans what they need.

KV Anand - Vijay

Anegan' was first narrated to Vijay and it was he who suggested Dhanush to K.V. Anand as his calendar was full and the superstar did not want the director to wait for him. K.V. Anand always backs himself with strong writers Suba who have a penchant for intelligent and depth scripting and Vijay would definitely find himself in a new unexplored avatar with this combo that will send fans into a frenzy.

Lingusamy - Vijay
