Smugglers resort to a wide variety of ways to game the system. Drugs are smuggled out of or into the country in peculiar ways. Some of them beat movie scenes. One such incident took place in Chennai on Tuesday.

Customs sleuths discovered that 3 kg of a narcotic substance was being smuggled in the form of masala packets. The contraband was headed for Australia. The sleuths on Tuesday seized them under NDPS Act, 1985.

Reports say that four individuals have been arrested.

The packets were mixed in bags full of grocery items. Sambhar powder packets, among others, were used to carry out the operation.

The contraband is said to be worth Rs 30 lakh.
