`Easan' is a forthcoming film Written, Produced and directed by M. Sasikumar. This is only the second film directed by Sasikumar after the cult film `Subramaniapuram' in 2008. He produced `Pasanga' and acted in `Naadodigal'.

This is the film which was started by Cheeyan Vikram as the producer, but later differences cropped between the director Sasikumar and producer Vikram. They talked it out and with no hard feelings between them, Sasikumar decided take over the film to produce it himself under Company Pictures.

The film underwent a lot of speculations while in the making over the title. First it was said `Nagaram' and then it became `Aagachiranthavan' before the man in charge Sasikumar revealed the title `Easan'. That was the curiosity over a Sasikumar directed film.

The casting of `Easan' comprises Samuthirakani, Vaibhav, AL Azhagappan, Abhinaya and Aparna Bajpai.

Samuthirakani, who directed `Naadodigal', plays an honest police officer and Vaibhav plays a college who is also a party animal. Veteran film producer AL Azhagappan plays the role of a minister and while producer Kaja Mohideen will be playing a prominent role.

The story of `Easan' will be very different from Sasikumar's earlier films. For the first time Sasikumar has set his focus on Chennai. It is said that the film will show the city's urban posh life and also the miserable slum life during night and day, as realistically as any Sasikumar film. Sasikumar says, he can't slot `Easan' as a thriller or a love story. Cinematography is by SR Kathiir and Editing is by Raja Mohamed.

Music of `Easan' is scored by James Vasanthan. James Vasanthan as always played music to the story without looking for showcasing individual brilliance. A good music director would always do that.

His more famous `Subramaniapuram' demanded village music and in `Easan' James Vasanthan has brought in a good dose of western flavor mixed with local music, which is new and interesting. James has introduced a new folk singer Thanjai Selvi.

Easan's soundtrack was released on 19 November 2010 at Sathyam Cinemas, Chennai, with noted and acclaimed directors from various Indian film industries - Bala and Ameer Sultan from the Tamil film industry along with Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap, Malayalam director Ranjith, Telugu director Trivikram and Kannada director Yograj Bhat - participating.

`Easan' is releasing on December 17.
