It has been alleged that EVM swapping is going on in parts of the country ahead of the May 23rd counting. Visuals of EVMs being transported to and from strong rooms have been doing the rounds on the Internet.

In this regard, the Election Commission has issued a statement on Tuesday. "EVMs and VVPATs are stored in strong rooms which are sealed in the presence of the candidates and observers. Strong rooms are guarded under secured administrative safeguards, 24x7 CCTV surveillance and high security. Any movement of EVMs/VVPATs is mandatorily managed through EVM Management System (EMS). GPS tracking is kept mandatory and is under 24x7 police escort," the body said.

Several voices on social media have alleged wide-spread EVM swapping even though there is no evidence.
