As the Lok Sabha election dates have been announced, the Election Commission of India has unveiled a new app, that will help voters ensure that the election process is held as per law, and also report any unlawful, illegal activities and malpractices happening in any of the election booths across the nation, with prompt action guaranteed.

This app is called as cVigil app, and when there's any violation of Model Code of Conduct, the voter can record a video or capture a photo on Android mobile and instantly report to election authorities without even requiring to go to returning officer, as said by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora.

The voter can click the photo or record video, upload it on the cVigil mobile app with a small description of the violation incident that happened, and the user can also remain anonymous. After the voter registers the complaint, District control room sends flying squads through GIS platforms, and action must be taken in 100 minutes. The 17th Lok Sabha election will be held in 7 phases starting from April 11, and the counting of votes is scheduled on May 23.
