Forest department is making all the preparations to capture the elephant Chinnathambi which is currently stationed at Udumalai. Chinnathambi, who had been roaming around in Thadagam forests in Coimbatore, had been transported by the forest department to Varakaliyar forests, but the elephant traveled back 100 kilometers and returned to Udumalai.

However, despite returning to Udumalai, Chinnathambi did not trouble the public or cause any disturbance. The Chennai high court had recently ordered not to transform Chinnathambi into a Kumki. After the recent hearing of the case, the court had ordered the forest department to capture Chinnathambi which is roaming around Udumalai.

Only after capturing Chinnathambi, the decision on whether to keep the elephant in the camp or send it back to forest will be taken. The decision on the same will be made by the chief forest officer, and the High court has insisted forest department not to trouble or attack Chinnathambi while capturing. Following this, the forest department has set out on a mission to bring Chinnathambi out of Kannadiputhur Sugarcane farm and make him faint and capture him.
