Days after England players Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler were accused of mocking Indians' English by addressing them as sir on social media, Morgan has said that his tweets were taken out of context.

Morgan also mentioned that his use of the word 'sir' in Twitter posts conveyed admiration and respect and that they were not intended to offend anyone. Speaking about being involved in the controversy, Morgan reportedly said, I don't really reflect on it a lot. I find if I call somebody 'sir' on social media, or anywhere around the world, it's a sign of admiration and respect. If that's taken out of context there's nothing I can control or do about it, so I haven't actually looked into it.

Old tweets of Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, and Brendon McCullum surfaced online recently after English bowler Ollie Robinson was suspended by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) for his racist and sexist tweets dating back to 2012 and 2013.
