Environment Day: Govt comes up with selfie campaign

Ahead of the World Environment Day on June 5, the Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar has floated a selfie campaign. This is meant to build awareness among people by making use of social media.

"I am sure the people of India will also celebrate it with a lot of enthusiasm. We have launched a program for people to plant a sapling, click selfie with it and post it as #SelfieWithSapling," Javadekar today said.

A few celebs have been invited to do the honours for initial kick. "Kapil Dev and Jackie Shroff will also participate & plant a sapling tomorrow. Several other similar programs will be held in next 2-3 days where many more people will take part in the program," the Minister added.
