A sensational final between Italy and England at the Wembley stadium on Sunday night concluded with Italy winning their first European Championship since 1968, ending their 53-year long wait.

Despite people across the world cheering on both teams and celebrating Italy's win ultimately, a number of England fans did not take the loss in a good spirit. Videos from outside the Wembley stadium showed some of the English supporters physically/verbally attacking and racially abusing the Italian audience as well as spitting on and stomping the Italian national flag. Besides the Italians, the England fans discriminated against their own Black players who missed penalty kicks for England, as well.

Responding to the abuse, the English Football Association (FA) released a statement which read, "The FA strongly condemns all forms of discrimination and is appalled by the online racism that has been aimed at some of our England players on social media. We could not be clearer that anyone behind such disgusting behaviour is not welcome in following the team. We will do all we can to support the players affected while urging the toughest punishments possible for anyone responsible."

Italy defeated England 3-2 on penalties after the Euro 2020 final ended 1-1 following extra time, with Luke Shaw scoring the fastest opening goal in a Euro final at the 2nd minute of the game, while Leonardo Bonucci equalised the score with his 67th minute goal.
