Exit Polls: BJP, Shiv Sena to sweep Maharashtra

Monday, October 21, 2019 • Tamil Comments

Elections to Maharashtra's 288 Assembly seats were held today.  The voter turnout was not encouraging, while the elections were conducted successfully with no abnormal incidents reported from anywhere.

Exit Polls conducted by various agencies for different news channels are out and they unanimously say that the NDA will retain power in a big way.  The BJP-Shiv Sena duo is going to win with ease, the polls say.  The magic number is 144.

Times Now says: BJP+: 230, Cong+: 48, Others: 10

India Today says: BJP+: 166-194, Cong+: 72-90, Others: 22-34

CNN News 18 says: BJP+: 243, Cong+: 41, Others: 4

Republic says: BJP+: 223, Cong+: 54, Others: 11

ABP News says: BJP+: 204, Cong+: 69, Others: 15

Some pollsters are estimating that NDA's vote share will touch 54 percent or so.  If that happens, the saffron alliance will win a landslide, not just a sweep.  However, India Today's dependable Exit Poll says that rebels have created trouble for BJP and SS and that's why the alliance may not win beyond 190 seats.
