Shocking: Iconic Chennai theatre to Shutdown permanently?

Coronavirus pandemic has badly impacted almost every business in the world, and one of the worst affected sectors is the entertainment industry and theatre business, as theatres have been facing huge losses with no movies released for around three months.

After the world famous AMC group of theatres had announced filing bankruptcy, now Coronavirus crisis has started showing its impact in Chennai theatres as well. One of the iconic theatres in Chennai, AVM Rajeswari located in Vadapalani is a single screen theatre which is budget friendly and is a choice of general audience, has now decided to shutdown permanently.

It has been said that the management has taken the decision after losses incurred during the pandemic and the uncertainty over the reopening of theatres and the business possibilities after the pandemic ends. This news has shocked theatre going people of Chennai. It has also been rumoured that the Old Washermanpet Maharani theatre might also get permanently closed because of the pandemic.
