Following a dispute between the Tamil Film Producers Council and the FEFSI (Film Employees Federation of South India), the Producers Council has launched a new organization called the 'Tamil Nadu Film Workers Federation.' This move is said to be aimed at safeguarding the interests of producers, particularly small-scale filmmakers.

In response, FEFSI has strongly opposed this decision and announced a one-day protest and symbolic strike on the 14th of this month. On that day, all film-related work including shooting and post-production will be halted. The protest is scheduled to take place near the Raja Rathinam Stadium in Egmore, Chennai from 9 AM to 1 PM.

Speaking to the press, President of the Tamil Film Producers Council, Murali Ramasamy, stated that the purpose of forming the new federation is to support small producers and ensure their survival in the film industry. He clarified that they have no intention to prevent FEFSI workers from getting jobs, nor have they told anyone not to hire them.

He added that on the day of the protest, film shootings will continue using workers from the newly created Tamil Nadu Film Workers Federation. Producers who support the new body can go ahead with their filming activities as planned.
