A huge fire broke out as early as at 03:30 a.m. on Sunday morning at the Rohingya Refugees’ camp near the Kalindi Kunj Metro Rail Station in New Delhi.  One person was injured but the fire completely destroyed 44 temporary camps.

As many as 230 Rohingya Muslim refugees, who had escaped the civil war in Myanmar and took refuge in India, have been lodged in refugee camps near Kalindi Kunj Metro Rail Station.  Firemen were at the spot within half-an-hour and started dousing the fire with their fire-fighting apparatus.  It took them almost two hours to put out the fire completely.

One individual suffered injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital.  There has been no human casualties in the fire accident which is believed to have been triggered by an electrical short-circuit.

47 families reside at the camp which has just had its 4th fire accident in the past six years.  Refugees lamented that they had lost many valuable things such as the UN special visa, identity cards, documents establishing their right to their properties back home in Myanmar, etc. in the fire.
