Fixed to Mobile calls to be dialed with prefix ‘0’ from January 15

All Fixed to Mobile calls will have to be dialed with the prefix ‘0’ from January 15 next year. This is in keeping with a recommendation made by TRAI.
As per a statement by the Department of Telecommunications, there will be no change in dialing plan from fixed to fixed, mobile to fixed and mobile to mobile calls.
A total of approximately 2539 million numbering series is expected to be generated from the above, the statement added, explaining the rationale behind the change. Room for adding more number of connections will be available after this.
In order to ensure that users are not inconvenienced, adequate information dissemination has been initiated.
