Forget IPL for now: Ganguly

Former cricketer and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that the question of conducting the Indian Premier League (IPL) anytime soon doesn't arise. The 2020 edition was originally scheduled to start from March 29. Due to the pandemic-induced lockdown, it had to be postponed unduly.

The BCCI is currently monitoring developments. It's not in a position to comment on the IPL for the next one month. Nothing is in favour of any kind of sport in the world, forget IPL, Ganguly says.

It was recently rumoured that the IPL will be held in August or September. The uncertainty surrounding the pandemic is making any plans difficult to be made.

IPL is not insured, unlike sporting events like Wimbledon. As such, losses to the tune of hundreds of crores for stakeholders are due.
