Leaders at the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Germany jointly issued a statement on Friday in which they vowed to put an end to terrorism, especially by cutting financing to terror groups. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Chinese premier Xi Jinping were among those present.

In the statement, leaders resolved to eliminate terrorist "safe spaces", deal with "returning foreign terrorist fighters", enable seamless information exchange between appropriate bodies for better preventive measures and criminal justice response, and respect international laws and the UN Charter in the process. Countries were encouraged to use the INTERPOL`s secure data exchange facilities. The private sector was called on detect and discourage transfer of funds in the case of small-scale terrorist attacks, as small funding is enough for these attacks to happen.

Earlier at the summit, PM Modi named militant groups that are based in Pakistan and said that terrorist organisations had the same motive of killing people and spreading hate.
