Gaayam-2 to go abroad

  • IndiaGlitz, [Friday,January 15 2010]

Jagapathi Babu's sequel to his 1993 blockbuster Gaayam will go to abroad to film for 20 days from the 25th of this month. The film is directed by Praveen Sri, a student of Ram Gopal Varma. Produced by Dr. Dharma Kartha, the film has Vimala Raman playing the heroine.

'Gaayam' was a film that was a massive hit and established Jagapathi Babu almost 15 years ago in a big way (though the film itself was not as big a hit as Kshana Kshanam or Shiva). In the year 2010, the same Durga who intimidated us on the screen in that Ram Gopal Verma's edge-of-the-seat film on gang wars and brutal killings, is coming back.

Durga is a character that the Telugu audience cannot easily forget. Fifteen years later, he wants to make a comeback. In this honest sequel, Jagapathi Babu will once again play the typical character that catapulted him to the starry orbit.

In the film, Jagapathi will be named Durga again and it will essentially be a chronicle of how Durga lives 15 years since. It will be a unique kind of sequel because in the past no other film has seen a sequel made after 15 years. One wishes Praveen and Jagapathi all the best!
