Gandhigiri Makes Bapu Cool

  • IndiaGlitz, [Wednesday,September 20 2006]

Munnabhai’s Gandhigiri has made Mahatma Gandhi Hot-n-Hip once again. Bapu is cool and people wish to rediscover him in an altogether different light. The Book Shops across the country have reported a 35% fresh demand for books on Gandhi ji. A few of the big book shops have created a separate corner for books on Gandhi to make it easier for the buyers to make their choice.

While ‘Lage Raho Munnabhai’ is tipped to a do a whopping business of Rs 60 crore and Sanjay Dutt is riding on an all-time high popularity ratings, a stray group of NSUI activists burned the effigies of the director Rajkumar Hirani saying that ‘Gandhigiri’ is a bad term for Bapu’s ideals. It seems that their misplaced zeal to catch the eye of the high command has back fired on them. Congress High Command has promptly suspended all the NSUI (It’s the student wing of Congress Party) activists involved in the incident.

As the Birthday of Mahatma Gandhi approaches on October 2nd, The Father of The Nation has been revived like never before. Indeed, in an era when bloodshed and hatred is the order of the day, Gandhi’s Satyagraha and Non-Violence makes a hell lot of sense. More power to Munna-Circuit and their Gandhigiri.
