Vadivelu is Back in Form... A Perfect Summer Vacation Treat with 'Gangers'!
Directed by Sundar C and produced by Avni Cinemax and Benzz Media Pvt Ltd. The movie stars Sundar C, Vadivelu, Catherine Tresa, Bucks, Mime Gopi, Harish Peradi, Aruldoss, Munishkanth, and Vani Bhojan among others.
Set in a government school, the story kicks off when a young girl goes missing. Her teacher Sujitha (Catherine Tresa) begins a desperate search, rallying the entire school to help. Despite filing a complaint, the police prove ineffective. Meanwhile, the town is ruled by powerful goons and corrupt politicians. A new PET (Physical Education Teacher), Saravanan (Sundar C), joins the school. Though Sujitha’s efforts hit dead ends and put her in danger, Saravanan secretly supports her.
Suddenly, another child falls from a terrace, triggering a series of bizarre incidents. Who's behind all this? Will Saravanan and his "gangers" manage to uncover the truth and take down the culprits? That forms the rest of the narrative.
Sundar C fits the PET teacher role well, standing tall and appearing impressively fit—he’s clearly worked on his physique for this film. While Sundar C's films are often known for glamour, romance, and dance numbers, this time the two leading ladies—Catherine Tresa and Vani Bhojan—are integrated more meaningfully into the plot. Aside from one glamour song, Catherine Tresa appears mostly in a traditional saree throughout the film. However, she still needs to improve her acting skills; her expressions and body language remain monotonous. That said, her dancing remains as energetic as ever.
The film's biggest strength is Vadivelu, who is truly back in form. His classic comic timing, reminiscent of his golden moments in Winner, Giri, and Thalainagaram, fills the theatre with laughter. His scenes, especially in the second half, are side-splittingly funny, supported by Bucks, Munishkanth, and his gang.
Vadivelu’s different getups are a visual treat too. His dialogues have already become meme-worthy and playlist staples on comedy channels:
"There are 50 people around us... None of them notice us, but we're scared of just watching each other."
“From the beginning of time, no child has ever responded when called by name within three days.”
"His name is Delexaaaa…"
Mime Gopi, Aruldoss, Harish Peradi, and the “Terror Gang” also contribute to the comic relief in many scenes.
Cinematographer K. Krishnasamy captures Sundar C’s trademark climax sequences beautifully. Editor Praveen Antony’s sharp cuts elevate the second-half comedy to another level. C. Sathya’s background score is excellent, although the songs could have had a bit more impact-Catherine Tresa’s glamour number, for example, doesn’t leave a lasting impression.
Writers Badri and Venkataraghavan have penned some hilarious dialogues, adding more punch to the film’s humor. While the film does take plenty of logical liberties, the non-stop comedy makes you overlook them. The screenplay is cheerful and vibrant throughout.
Overall ' Gangers' , a fun-filled summer entertainer with no need for cinematic logic or heavy thinking. It’s a perfect movie to enjoy with your family and kids, full of laughter and light-hearted moments.
