Actor Gautham Karthik, after the commercial failure of Thiru directorial Mr Chandramouli, returned on screens with his latest movie Devarattam, which was produced by Studio Green and the movie released on May 1.

Directed by Muthaiah, known for his rural entertainers like Kutty Puli, Marudhu, Komban, Kodi Veeran, the Gautam Karthik starrer was again a rural entertainer with family sentiments and violence in equal proportions, and the movie, despite mixed reviews has opened big at the box office.

Production house Studio Green has made it official that Devarattam has grossed 6.5 crores in its opening weekend in TN box office, and that this is the biggest opening in Gautham Karthik's career. With more collections expected this weekend as well, the movie, also starring Manjima Mohan and Soori has emerged as a safe venture for the makers.
