Sourcing emotions from real life experiences can help an actor achieve greatness on screen.screen. Taapsee Pannu who would be playing a refugee in 'Ghazi' has based her role on the real life experiences her Grandparents faced during the partition.

For the records, Taapsee's grandparents hailed from Lahore and their life was uprooted during the partition. Taapsee has grown hearing stories of the hardships they had to face and the obstacles they had to overcome during those dark days.

Following this, Taapsee is dedicating her role in 'Ghazi' as an homage to her grandparents and the people who had leave behind their homes at the time of partition. On this Taapsee commented, "Our country's history is very fascinating, especially because my family has seen a lot of it in person. My mother's parents came from Lahore. I have had multiple conversations with them when they were alive about their experience. It was a challenging thing for them to uproot themselves one fine day and restart their life from scratch. I don't think anyone of us can really understand what they went through. It's surely nostalgic to be portraying a refugee after knowing their story."

'Ghazi' is a war drama which deals with the mysterious sinking of PNS Ghazi, a Pakistan-deployed submarine during the 1971 India-Pakistan war. Taapsee has paired been opposite Rana Daggubati, who would be essaying the role of a naval officer on board the Indian submarine.
