RIP! The original “Godzilla” passes away

Japanese actor Haruo Nakajima, who wore the ‘Godzilla’ suit and terrified and endeared audiences, has passed away at the age of 88. He donned the iconic role  from 1954’s ‘Godzilla, King of the Monsters’, till the 1972 movie ‘Godzilla vs. Gigan’. Apart from his famous role he has also acted in films like Akira Kurosawa’s classic ‘Seven Samurai’.

Haruo Nakajima shared in a recent interview that those days there were no computer graphics or light weight rubber material and he had to wear his ‘Godzilla’ suit made of ready-mixed concrete and he mimicked  the movements of animals to get the gait of the monster right. The ‘Godzilla’ movies are still popular and atleast three films are in the making to release in the next few years but Haruo Nakajima will always be remembered as the first. RIP!
