A wave of grief has swept through the Tamil film industry following the death of veteran comedian Goundamani’s wife, Shanthi. She was 67 years old and had been undergoing treatment for ongoing health issues.

Goundamani, a legendary figure in Tamil cinema known for his impeccable comic timing, dominated the screen for decades. Though he has stepped away from acting in recent years due to age, his recent film Otha Ottu Muthaiya was released to positive reception.

Shanthi passed away earlier today after her health deteriorated. Her body has been placed at the couple’s residence in Teynampet, Chennai, for the public and members of the film fraternity to pay their final respects.

Condolences have been pouring in from across the industry, with many expressing their sorrow and extending support to Goundamani and his family during this difficult time.
