Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish environmental activist, has been named Time’s Magazine’s Person of the Year for 2019. She was recently in the news for her 'How Dare You?' speech, in which she questioned various countries for causing climate change.

Thunberg was pipped to win the Nobel Peace Prize. However, she didn't go through this year.

While the teen has been seen as a heroine, her critics have been of the view that she is merely a puppet in the hands of some powerful forces. Says Aarti Tikoo Singh, reacting to the TIME recognition, "Dear children, don’t get deluded by this as some of us did when we watched superhero movies. Don’t jump from the cliff thinking that you can fly like Superman. Children have no power, unless an entire political system backs them. And remember all systems are corrupt & ruthless." Truer words haven't been spoken!
