Guindy Engineering College celebrates 225th Year

The prestigious Guindy Engineering College has touched its 225th year in 2018 and it has a rich history as being the first technical institute of India and the oldest established outside Europe. Started in 1794 at a different location it shifted to the current in 1920. The premises which stands on 225 acres houses the Anna University.

Past alumni of GEC who have made it big in their respective fields include industrialist A.C. Muthaiah, cricketer Krishnamachari Srikanth, actors Nagarjuna and Crazy Mohan, lyricist Madhan Karky and American politician Upendra J Chivukula. It currently ranks among the top ten institutions in India.
