It is opening up of new pages for the renowned and national acclaimed music director Hamsalekha. He has announced direction of ‘Shakuntle’ and taking up another feat on his birthday May 23. These two are major leap in my career of four decades says Hamsalekha.

Direction of a film for this top music composer and lyricist was a long dream. The story line he had thought while writing for ‘Putnanja’ and ‘Chandamama’ with his best friend trailblazer V Ravichandran. Putnanja took off for a colorful opening and big box office success. The story of ‘Chandamama’ was in his mind.

For the concept of the film ‘Shakuntle’ (title suggested by his wife Smt Latha Hamsalekha) he has taken the Sahyadri Hills as inspiration and combining it in animation technology for the film is via woman. For bringing together the Sahyadri Hills the woman posture helped him and it worked wonderful. That is also a good lift for the post production work. Before start of the film, the post production has cheered Hamsalekha. It is only going to shoot and editing for final copy he says.

The film ‘Shakuntle’ is going on floor on May 15 and he has also decided on the date of release like his boss N Veeraswamy and V Ravichandran. The release will be November 1 for ‘Shakuntle’ says Hamsalekha.

‘Shakuntle’ will be in Kannada and Hindi languages. The post production is pre production for this film. So much of work has been already conducted. I am waiting for Hindi films actors nod. Otherwise it will be a pure Kannada cinema launch on May 15, shoot in June and July and release in November 1.

On the opening of the film ‘Shakuntle’ Hamsalekha thought of a huge program. This is a major leap in my life. Zee Kannada has come to make it big. As they have Hindi channel and Hindi actors are part of the film, it might be a huge program for opening.

A builder by profession Santosh Annappa of Coorg has already made deposit of the expenditure for this film to my account. I need freedom, money and new actors to get my work done. There are 16 new actors for this film. We are trying at bigwigs in the Hindi cinema industry. We get senior technicians at work.

On Hamsalekha coming to small screen, it has been great experience for him. He was able to study minds and quality of work. I was also getting publicity that is required for my film.

The recent top class music composition from Hamsalekha is the 'Negila Yogi....song in five languages - Kannada Dr C Ashwath song will be retained.  Manu, Chitramma, Dr SPB and a few others are singing this translation of song.

It director is S V Rajendra Singh Babu working on a film on life sketch of P Kalinga Rao, Hamsalekha is giving music for it. Srimantha is another film which he has completed composing.
