Hansika on prostitute plight

In just 15 minutes ‘Hansika’ short film focus on the plight of prostitutes with story, screenplay, dialogue, editing, direction, acting is by Dr Prashanth. Bharat Jain joined in the production.

The reason for Dr Prashanth to take up this short film is the beating of a woman in a road. He inquired on the reason for beating and found it strange. That was a prostitute woman getting beating. In the later days Dr Prashanth met nearly 40 prostitutes to know their status and reason behind coming to this profession. The dialogues are also natural. No one among 80 persons auditioned accepted to perform in the film.

It is from Face Book Seema Nanjappa came in to contact for this short film to take up lead role. The short film ‘Hansika’ is about a director meeting a prostitute and dialogue between the two is main content. In the climax when she decline to act, director throws a challenge that you would come before the camera. The dialogues of this film showcase how the mindset of prostitutes in real life.

Pharmacist, social activist, Cow protector, producer and actor Mahendra Munnoth watching this film stated that in society we give different status to girl child as she grows. How they met atrocity in life is shown in ‘Hansika’. Director is qualified for the big screen. Social servant and producer Poornima Varshit Das running an NGO is investing on this short film. She had read and seen such atrocities in life happening. That has in fact drawn her to take up this project.
