From being a child artist in his father’s production ventures, Vijay has today risen to the status of one of the best actors Tamil cinema has ever seen. And he is now dearly referred to as Ilaya Thalapathi by one and all.

And this year, the star will be celebrating his birthday by promoting various causes and working for the needy. As we had earlier told you, he has appealed to his fans to donate their eyes and the donation camp is being held by his fans to which Vijay will personally attend.

Heeding to Vijay's request, overwhelmed fans all over the State have made elaborate arrangements to mark the matinee idol’s special day. They have organized various welfare programs, including blood donation camps, free notebooks distribution and annadhanam among other things.

Remember how Vijay requested his fans to support AIADMK during the state elections and they followed religiously? And this birthday he has turned his attention to social work, looks like the actor loves to do good and urge his fans to do the same.

His admirers claim that he has achieved something on the political front. His birthday this year is special for Vijay and his fans as they vowed against the erstwhile DMK regime and worked hard for the victory of the AIADMK in the recently held Assembly elections. And a change of government took place in Tamil Nadu as per their wish, a trade analyst, who is observing Vijay from close quarters, says.

Recalling that Ilaya Thalapathi has called on Chief Minister J Jayalaltihaa twice after the results were announced, sources say that the AIADMK supreme was happy with Vijay’s support to her party in the elections.

Meanwhile, his multi-starrer 'Nanban' directed by Shankar is shaping up well and will complete shoot in the coming days, whereas a big treat awaits Vijay's fans through 'Velayudham' this August.
