Harris Jayaraj who has churned out many a super hit album over the years in Tamil cinema has been conferred an honorary doctor of letters by the Dr.MGR Educational and Research Institute. The melody maker had shared the news on Twitter writing "It’s an honour to get the doctorate along with Mr.Satheesh Reddy, Mr Raja Sabapathy, Ms Shobana, and our Honourable Chief Minister."

A.R. Rahman was one of the first among the celebrities to extend wishes to Harris Jayaraj and the latter acknowledged it with a thanks post. Other celebs who congratulated the 'Kaappaan' scorer are K.V.Anand, Seenu Ramaswamy, Dharan Kumar and Madhavan. On the professional front Harris's next album is 'Dhruva Natchathiram' directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon and starring Chiyaan Vikram.
