In Malayalam cinema, a committee called the Hema Committee was formed to investigate instances of sexual harassment faced by actresses and female artists. Following the release of the committee's report, several actresses came forward to openly share their experiences of sexual harassment.

A case was filed by an actress from Aluva, Kerala, implicating actor and MLA Mukesh and others for alleged sexual misconduct. Maradu police interrogated Mukesh in connection with the case, arrested him, and later released him on bail.

In the latest development, a special investigation team has filed a chargesheet against Mukesh in the Ernakulam court. The chargesheet claims there is digital evidence against him, which includes WhatsApp chat history and email exchanges between the actress and Mukesh, submitted as supporting evidence.
