The Nadigar Sangam election was scheduled to happen on June 23rd under the supervision of retired judge E.Padmanabhan. There is a tough battle between the Pandavar Ani comprising of Vishal, Karthi, Nasser, Kaurnaas and Poochi Murugan and the Sankaradas Swamigal Ani having K.Bhagyaraj, Isari Ganesh, Kutty Padmini, Prashanth and Udhaya.

The police earlier refused protection on that date as the venue is close to the houses of the chief minister and other high placed officials. The Nadigar Sangam approached the high court praying it to direct the police to give protection to the premises. The court has refused the petition stating that the convenience of the public is more important than the Nadigar Sangam elections and asked them to choose a new venue which does not pose any inconvenience to the public and inform within two days.

The development has raised questions whether the Nadigar Sangam elections will be held as planned or will it be postponed or suspended. The Pandavar Ani has alleged that Isari Ganesh from the opposition is using his influence to cancel the elections.
