Hours ago, McDonald's said something on Twitter while addressing the concern of a customer. Here are the exact words of the world-famous fast food company. "All our restaurants (in India) have HALAL certificates. You can ask the respective restaurant Managers to show you the certificate for your satisfaction and confirmation." For the uninitiated, the term Halal refers to Islamic food, among others. The Halal economy is a thriving one across the world.

As per Halal rules, only Muslim butchers can be involved in the process of meat-making. This is seen as discriminatory by the critics of the rules. Also, when a restaurant doesn't inform its customers about the policy, it amounts to dishonesty.

After McDonald's today said that all its restaurants in India are Halal-certified, Hindus, Sikhs and other social media users have lashed out at the company. Madhu Purnima Kishwar said, "McDonald's is forcing halal meat on Hindus & Sikhs without them being given informed choice in the matter. They should be required to display this information prominently in every outlet." Gita S Kapoor tweeted out, "So why only one section is being appeased? What about the non-veg Hindus/Sikhs who are opposed to eating Halal?"

Recently, Halal food became a talking point when a Hindu customer of Zomato cancelled the order because he was allotted a Muslim rider.
