Nani's Powerful Performance Shines in 'HIT: The Third Case'

Produced by Nani's Wall Poster Cinema and unonymous Productions, HIT: The Third Case is directed by Sailesh Kolanu and stars Nani, Srinidhi Shetty, Samuthirakani, Surya Srinivas, Rao Ramesh, and others. This film is the third installment in the HIT police procedural universe.

SP Arjun Sarkar IPS (played by Nani) is a fierce, hot-blooded officer known for his no-nonsense attitude and quick temper. Without hesitation, he delivers justice with a baton, enforcing discipline with an iron hand. However, he also crosses the line of the law, committing brutal murders. These crimes lead him into the dark web of an underground web of killers. Why is Arjun Sarkar committing these murders? What is his connection with this dark web crime syndicate? The rest of the story unfolds with these gripping questions.

Sporting a salt-and-pepper look, Nani delivers a mature and intense performance. He has a remarkable sense of how to present himself on screen—fierce and authoritative as a cop, yet tender and romantic in moments with his lover. He enjoys and fully immerses himself in his character, bringing it to life effortlessly.

The 'KGF' girl, Srinidhi Shetty, shines as IPS officer Mridula. Rather than being just a love interest, she makes her mark with impactful action scenes, proving her strength as an officer. Samuthirakani stands out as a compassionate, upright officer and a caring father.

When it comes to police investigations and the screenplay that follows, pace and tension are key—and director Sailesh ensures both are maintained from start to finish. Despite the high level of violence, it serves the narrative effectively. The love scenes add emotional depth, and the chemistry between Nani and Sreeleela works well on screen.

Cinematographer Sanu John Varghese captures action sequences with fiery intensity—especially the climactic fire sequence. Karthika Srinivas's editing is seamless, making the film fly by, with the climax arriving before you even realize it. Mikey Mayer's background score adds power to the action and charm to the romance.

However, there are a few logical lapses—how such brutal murders happen so frequently, and how so many killers roam free while sincere officers remain in danger without adequate support from the system. Also, repeatedly justifying a cop’s actions through anger alone feels outdated, echoing old 'chathriyan'-era templates.

Overall, HIT: The Third Case stands tall as a grander and more expansive entry than the previous two films, laying a solid foundation for a potentially explosive fourth installment.

Rating: 2.75 / 5.0
